Protected Species Surveys
The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 provides protection for certain species under law. “European protected species” are those which are present on Schedule 2 of the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2010 and all are also protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended). As part of planning applications, conservation activities or building / land management programs it is often necessary to have surveys carried out for protected species.
CBE Consulting hold licenses to survey for Bats and Great Crested Newts and can also undertake presence / absence surveys for other species such as reptiles and badger. Following a site inspection and review of appropriate biological records, a report can be prepared to provide the following information:
• Site location, grid reference and an aerial photograph.
• Assessment of biological records.
• Search for evidence and potential for protected and priority species to be present.
• Photographs and Habitat Maps.
• Identification of Ecological Constraints.
• Assessment of potential impact arising from any proposed development.
• Conclusions, recommendations, and proposed mitigation measures.
